Sports Academy
„Swimbo“
The Sports Academy Swimbo was founded in 2015 in Belgrade. The founders of the Academy are a group of friends who believe that with honest, dedicated, quality and professional work, all people can be helped, regardless of psychophysical abilities, using sport as a means and method to reach the highest goals.
Enthusiasm, personal motives and empathy were enough motivation to design various sports programs and use all the values of sports in order to improve the life of every child who is involved in the "Swimbo" Academy.
Since the establishment of the sports academy, a large number of children have passed through our program activities, and swimming has helped them improve their psychosocial and health status, and this has also influenced the life of their families and guardians, because we all form a team together.
In accordance with its founding act, the Academy is registered for work in the following sports branches:
- Type of sport – Paralympic sport
Branch of sport - swimming - Type of sport – Non-Paralympic sport of persons with disabilities
Branch of sports - sports for the deaf and hard of hearing Sports for the blind and partially sighted - Special Olympics (sport for people with special needs)
Goals of the sports academy
Our sports academy deals with the development of motor skills in children with developmental disabilities, through various sports programs through cooperation with related associations and experts, such as sports camps and competitions with an emphasis on the promotion and implementation of inclusion and the development of equality in society.
We organize professional meetings (seminars and webinars) for the purpose of sports and health education for sports experts and all other actors who work in various sports organizations and educational institutions (special schools, universities).
The goal of the aforementioned activities is to provide conditions and opportunities for every child to play sports, regardless of their psychophysical abilities.
Every child should be approached with respect and dignity and a healthy and safe environment for exercise should be provided, where they will have the conditions for fun in sports and a sense of satisfaction and be equally included with the rest of the population.
In this way, we will create an inclusive environment that encourages children and their parents/guardians to enjoy sports, develop the enthusiasm and personality of each child.
The mission of the Swimbo Sports Academy
- Improving the position of vulnerable groups of citizens through the implementation of activities that contribute to improving the quality of their lives.
- Improving the position and status of Roma men and women, as well as the position of internally displaced persons and refugees and children from migrant families
- Developing and improving the principle of gender equality through sports activities
- Strengthening the capacity of professionals in working with sensitive groups of citizens by organizing professional education (meetings, seminars and webinars).
Ethical principles of the Swimbo Sports Academy
- All activities of the Academy must be available to everyone, in solidarity and under equal conditions, regardless of the user's affiliation and social status;
- The action of the academy must be aimed at respecting children's rights and all other individuals, groups and users of the Academy's programs;
- The work program of the Academy must be aimed at respecting gender equality in order to include women and create equal conditions for participation in all activities of the Academy;
- The work program of the Academy must be in accordance with the preservation of the natural environment and the social environment;
- The Academy must act transparently and independently from abuses for political, commercial and financial purposes, i.e. the Academy's actions must not be in conflict with the spirit of sportsmanship and all the values of sport.
